Over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, two of the Zoo's female sealions moved from their temporary enclosure with the tapirs back to their fabulous, refurbished pool to recommence their training.  Gina and Anya soon settled back into their routine and are thoroughly enjoying their new surroundings.

Glass walls separate the 250 seat viewing gallery from the pool so that visitors of all ages can see the animals interact with the keepers at feeding times. The other sealions will move back in the near future and will be joined by a male from Madrid Zoo who will travel along with more Magellanic penguins to complete the marine area, "Active Oceans".

Director, Darren Webster, is delighted with the new enclosure. "We're just sorting out the final finishing touches, but this is a dream come true for Blackpool Zoo.  The original pool, still the largest in Europe, was built in the 1970s and desperately needed upgrading.  The result is perfect for both the animals and the visitors."
