As winter is now fully upon us, the thought of exploring rockpools around the coastline is probably furthest from your minds. However, at the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham, you can explore rockpools in the warm all year round. It's a great opportunity to safely see what creatures live in rockpools around the coast line, and to be guided by the rockpool experts on how to handle a crab, touch a live starfish and how to identify the various types of shellfish.
Also on display are the only hammerhead sharks in the UK. The Sea Life Centre in Birmingham houses two hammerhaed sharks, that share their home with Giant Green Sea Turtles and Black Tip Reef Sharks. Discover how their uniquely shaped heads help them detect their prey more easily, and watch them feed on mullet, squid & whiting for lunch.
