Woburn Safari Park opens a new Asian elephant facility providing state of the art welfare and conservation for up to 18 elephants later in 2008. A series of workshops also runs throughout the year, Junior Zoologist part 1 offering opportunities in April to find out from the keepers about animals and their care at the family attraction; Primate Day allowing visitors to meet lemurs, squirrel monkeys and other primates, and participate in many hands-on activities in May; ‘So you want to be an animal keeper?’ furnishing advice and hands-on activities in May; and Junior Zoologist part 2 running through August. July and August also see five-day non-residential experiences, with each day having a different theme with at least two hands-on animal experiences, along with games, guided off-road tours in Safari vehicles, a chance to meet the keepers, and the animals (see website for details).
